
The Brazilian defender moved to the Parc des Princes in January 2012 when then Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas decided he was surplus to requirements. Alex has since established himself as a key player for the French club, helping them to win the league title last season and his central defensive partnership with Thiago Silva will be vital if Laurent Blanc's men are to make it through to the semi-finals. Despite the somewhat acrimonious nature of his departure from Stamford Bridge, the 31-year-old says he only has fond memories of his time in London and is looking forward to facing some of his former colleagues ahead of the first leg on Wednesday. "This is not about revenge. I had problems at the time with one person, who was Andre Villas-Boas, but not with the club," he said. "I had a good relationship with everyone over there.
"It is not about revenge but I want to get through this round on our way to winning the Champions League."
