Don't write us off - Fletcher

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher says the team are desperate for a win against Bayern Munich to prove their critics wrong.

United host Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on Tuesday in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie. Bayern are strong favourites going into the match, having won the Bundesliga in record time last week with seven games still left to play. Pep Guardiola's side did, however, see a 19-match winning streak in the league come to an end in a 3-3 draw with Hoffenheim on Friday, a game in which star midfielder Thiago Alacantara picked up a season-ending injury.

And with cracks perhaps starting to show among the European champions, Fletcher says United are determined for a win to disprove those who have already written them off. "I can't wait for it," the experienced midfielder told MUTV.

"What an occasion it's going to be. "It's a Champions League quarter-final at Old Trafford against Bayern Munich - it doesn't come any bigger than that. We've got to get up for this game and really believe in ourselves. And we will. "We're really looking forward to it. Everyone is writing us off but we've got some good players here who will be desperate to do well."
