Benzema sets sights on Sevilla

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema admits his side must bounce back against Sevilla on Wednesday following their El Clasico defeat.

Benzema scored a brace against Barcelona at the Bernabeu to give Real Madrid an early lead after Andres Iniesta had opened the scoring for Barcelona. Lionel Messi levelled matters for the visitors before the break but Cristiano Ronaldo put Real ahead again soon after the restart. However, Sergio Ramos was sent off for a foul on Neymar and two Messi penalties wrapped up a 4-3 win for Barcelona in Madrid on Sunday.

Real now take on Sevilla in the Primera Division on Wednesday and Frenchman Benzema is desperate for his side to bounce back and return to winning ways in midweek at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Benzema told the club's official website: "We're disappointed with the result. We scored three goals and had control of the game. "When Barcelona don't have it, it is very difficult for them and we played a great game.

Barcelona always have possession and we adapted our game against that team and we were doing well. "I scored two goals but it doesn't matter, the important thing is the result. "I do not know if it was a penalty from Sergio on Neymar and after the red it is very difficult playing against 11 men. "It was a night with a lot of key moments and now we'll try and beat Sevilla. At this point in the season the matches are all finals and we know that Atletico take on Barcelona on the final day, so we have to think about ourselves in order to win." Real are now second in the La Liga table behind city rivals Atletico Madrid, who won 2-0 at Real Betis on Sunday, due to Atleti's superior head-to-head record over Los Blancos as both sides have 70 points, while Barcelona trail the two Madrid clubs by just one point.
