Real Madrid agree deal for Sevilla star

Real Madrid are said to have already agreed a deal in principle for Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

That has led to plenty of interest from around Europe in the player, with Juventus and Liverpool very keen on acquiring his services.

However, according to a report on Spanish source Frichajes.net, Sevilla have already accepted an offer from Madrid with president Florentino Perez starting negotiations several months ago.

Rakitic has a market value of around £17.5 million, but Madrid have reportedly had a bid of €15 million (£12.3 million) accepted with the 26-year-old set to be out of contract at the end of next season.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers had been keen on bringing in the talented Croatian next year as he builds a squad capable of an assault on the Champions League.

The Reds may have to turn to other options with West Ham United’s Mohamed Diame and Inter Milan’s Mateo Kovacic reportedly on their radar.
