Angel Di Maria has been ruled out of Real Madrid’s quarter-final first-leg against Borussia Dortmund with a stomach bug.The Argentine ace will not be able to take any part in the match and his place has been taken by young Jose Rodriguez.
Di Maria started the season slowly but has returned to become a key part of Carlo Ancelotti’s team. The 26-year-old has played 28 times in the league and has made 11 assists, with only Gareth Bale making more on 12.
Real Madrid are preparing to face Dortmund, who knocked out the Spanish giants at the semi-final stage of last year’s Champions League.
A key absence for the Germans is the player who scored all four goals against Madrid in a 4-1 first-leg win, Bayern Munich-bound Robert Lewandowski.
Real Madrid will host Dortmund at the Santiago Bernabeu tonight where they ran out 2-0 winners last season, but fell one goal short of qualifying to the final.
