Spurs inspired by Sherwood

Christian Eriksen says the Spurs side were galvanised into action by a half-time teamtalk in the comeback win over Southampton.

White Hart Lane boss Tim Sherwood was not happy with what he had seen in the first 45 minutes as Spurs fell two goals behind but, thanks to a brace from Eriksen and a late strike from Gylfy Sigurdsson, they fought back to win.
Eriksen says the speech given at the break by Sherwood made all the difference. "We got a little speech at half-time and in the second half we were new guys," said Eriksen. Sherwood praised his team's "real guts" post-match as Spurs sent their fans away happy at the final whistle. "It wasn't ranting and raving; it was considered and it was measured what I had to say to them," said the 45-year-old. "I wanted to play a high-tempo game and press them high up the field and I didn't think we had the energy to do it. "It is harder to come from 2-0 down at home than 2-0 away from home. There is an expectancy but it takes real guts, character and spirit to do that. "Brilliant."
