Fernandinho believes the Manchester derby could be crucial to Manchester City's title chances but for now his focus is on Fulham.City host Fulham on Saturday before taking on fierce rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford the following Tuesday.
Fernandinho feels victory in the Manchester derby could provide a major boost in City's chances of landing the Premier League title.
However, the Brazilian midfielder is well aware City must take all three points when they host relegation-threatened Fulham and has warned against complacency.
He told the Manchester Evening News: "That game [the Manchester derby] can change everything. I hope our team will be ready and we can walk the streets without any problems and that our fans can give us some hugs afterwards!
"When you win these games, you can walk down the street, but not when you lose."
He added: "The derby is important for the players, the fans and the city, and of course it will be special for everyone. I played in derbies in Brazil and Ukraine, but this one is special - I don't know why, but it feels different.
"But right now we need to think just about Fulham, to beat them at home and play well, so we can take some confidence into next Tuesday against United. Maybe we will start to talk about them on Monday, but now it's all about Fulham.
"People might think Fulham will be an easy game, but there are no easy games - every game is a final for us."
City are currently fourth in the Premier League table but they have three games in hand over league leaders Chelsea who are six points clear of Fernandinho's side in the standings.
